Make donations at www.kilibowl.com/donate/ to help fund a Fresh Water Well
The Global Football Foundation is inviting football fans with a heart to help the Tanzanian village of Sokoine receive clean water by donating to the ‘Kili Bowl Water / Orphans Project’.
Global Football is the organizer of the upcoming Kilimanjaro Bowl, the continent’s first-ever game of college American football to be played at the 15,000-capacity Sheik Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium on May 21 between Drake University and the CONADEIP All Stars from Mexico.
The village of Sokoine is located in the Singida Region with a population of 2,830 and 885 households. Each household spends approximately 7 hours a day walking to the closest fresh water source for their families’ daily needs, which equals about 2,200,000 labor hours per year fetching water.
“The Global Kilimanjaro Bowl is having a profound impact on all the American and Mexican travelers, as well as upon the youth and sports fans of Tanzania,” said Global Football President PATRICK STEENBERGE. “Now through our ‘Kili Bowl Water/Orphans Project’, we can have a lasting positive influence on an entire village for decades to come!
“The dire need for fresh water wells has been brought to my attention by Deputy Minister LAZARO NYALANDU, and we are passionate to help out through the many contacts we at Global Football have developed. I would hope that all our friends around the world would be able to support us, and these Tanzanian people, as we fund construction of a fresh water well in the Singida region.”
The goal of the Kili Bowl Water / Orphans Project is to provide a fresh water well in the Singida district to give all the community members better access to a necessity most people take for granted every day. The World Bank says that supplying clean water can solve half of the healthcare problems in Africa. Your donation can help reduce the time spent walking for and carrying water, resulting in more time for children to concentrate on their schooling, and for adults to focus on their productivity in agricultural activities to generate more income for their families.
Donations to this worthy cause can be made at http://www.kilibowl.com/donate/.
Along with the historic game, the players, coaches and staff of Drake University and the CONADEIP All-Stars will also hold youth clinics, undertake 3 days of service projects to benefit local orphanages, and climb the country’s imposing and spectacular Mount Kilimanjaro during their visit.
